Completion requirement

Admission standards for graduate studies at California Baptist University can be found in the admissions section of the University Catalog.  In addition, each candidate must meet the following requirements for this program:

• Additional Grade Point Average

• A minimum 3.0 GPA for unconditional acceptance

• Applicants with a GPA lower than 3.0 may be considered for admission with the presentation of a minimum combined score of 300 on the verbal and quantitative sections of the Graduate Record Exam (GRE)

• Prerequisites (completed with a "C" or better in the past eight years)*

• Human Anatomy and Physiology with lab (2 semesters)

• General Psychology

• Exercise Physiology

• Biology

• Chemistry

• Physics (Biomechanics that includes physics may be accepted with approval)

• Additional recommended prerequisites:

• Introduction to Athletic Training

• Biomechanics or Applied Movement Anatomy

• Nutrition

• Statistics

• Research Methods

• Medical Terminology

* Not required for admission to the pre-athletic training curriculum, must be complete before consideration for admission to the Master of Science in Athletic Training program.

The following athletic training prerequisites are offered at California Baptist University

  • BIOL 1430 - Principles of Biology OR BIOL 1460 - General Biology I

  • BIOL 1530 - Human Anatomy and Physiology I and BIOL 1530L - Human Anatomy and Physiology I Lab

  • BIOL 1630 - Human Anatomy and Physiology II and BIOL 1630L - Human Anatomy and Physiology II Lab

  • CHEM 1020 - Fundamentals of Chemistry OR CHEM 1150 - General Chemistry I and CHEM 1150L - General Chemistry I Lab

  • KINE 2740 - Applied Movement Anatomy

  • KINE 3000 - Nutrition Science

  • KINE 3040 - Introduction to Athletic Training

  • KINE 3120 - Emergencies in Sports Medicine *

  • KINE 3830 - Exercise Physiology

  • PHYS 1150 - Physics for Architects with Lab OR PHYS 2140 - Physics I and PHYS 2140L - Physics I Lab

  • PSYC 2130 - General Psychology

* Course not required for admission into the Master of Science in Athletic Training program, but if completed as a prerequisite the course will satisfy the program course requirement ATRN 5120 - Acute Care in Athletic Training I

Complete ALL of the following Courses:

* ATRN5120 Requirement may be satisfied with documentation of Emergency Medical Technician certification or completion of KINE 3120.
